The Centenary of the Great 200 Miles Race Win
October 13th 1923 saw Maurice Harvey's splendid win for Alvis in the Junior Car Club's 200 Miles Race at Brooklands at an average speed of 93.29 mph. The positive publicity arising directly from winning this high-profile international event was pivotal in securing the reputation of Alvis. It reflects the greatest credit on the Alvis team that their hastily constructed car exhibited exemplary speed and reliability, 'knocking off lap after lap at 94 to 95 mph' for the duration of the race and crossing the line in a triumphant first place. The Alvis Register is pleased to mark the centenary of this historic achievement.
